Structural Existing Conditions Report
The Structural Existing Conditions Report is the 1st technical report assigned for this capstone project. It is an assessment of the existing structural system of Remington Row, the building that has been selected for the project. Its scope includes descriptions of the gravity system and the lateral system, typical member sizes, foundation type, load descriptions and what codes and standards will be used to calculate the loads in the following report.
Notebook Submission A
Notebook Submission A is the 2nd technical report assigned for the capstone project. It focuses on the building codes, gravity loads, and lateral loads acting on the building. The scope of load calculation is limited to simply calculating the dead, live, snow, wind, and seismic loads without checking any of the members, or distributing the loads to frames.
Notebook Submission B
Notebook Submission B is the 3rd technical report assigned for the capstone project. It focuses on the application of the calculated gravity loads on typical bays and members in the building. This includes columns, bearing walls, and flexural and shear capacities of slabs. In addition to that, three alternative systems were designed for the typical bay as a preliminary assessment for a possible depth topic that could be used for the proposal. The three alternatives were compared to each other and to the existing system in a matrix based on a multitude of criteria.
Notebook Submission C
Notebook Submission C is the 4th technical report assigned for the capstone project. It focuses on creating a software model of the lateral system and validating the results obtained using hand calculations. The results that are analyzed include center of mass and rigidity, story forces and drifts, and overturning moments amongst various others. In addition to that, spot checks were done for lateral elements to ensure they were designed adequately.
